New online listing site helps Spanish speakers find apartments

If you’ve ever tried to use an online translator to convert words into English or another language, you probably know how frustrating it can be. The grammar and the words don’t always make sense.

Now imagine trying to use that kind of system when searching for something as important as your next place to live. Sympathy with that kind of frustration led the CoStar Group, owner of the Apartments.com network of rental listing sites, to launch Apartamentos.com, the first exclusively Spanish-language rental listing site in the United States.

According to CoStar, about 20 percent of all renters speak Spanish. Apartamentos.com has the same features as the Apartments.com site, including a variety of search tools, interactive 3D tours and extensive information about neighborhoods. The site lists available units, including apartments, single-family houses and condos for rent.

Community listings have been translated by people rather than by software for accuracy. Property managers can receive inquiries on rentals in English or Spanish with online translation.
