David Joseph Tomassoni (December 5, 1952 – August 11, 2022) was a Minnesota state legislator who served from 1993 to 2022.
David Joseph Tomassoni served in the Minnesota Legislature from 1993 to 2022. A former member of the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party, he left the DFL to become an independent. He was chairman of the Senate Economic Development Committee from 2007 to 2010.
Tomassoni announced in July 2021 that he had been diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Unfortunately, the prominent legislator died of ALS on August 11, 2022.
Thomassoni was born in Bemidji, Minnesota, attended Chisholm High School before graduating with a BSBA from the University of Denver. He played professional hockey in Italy for 16 years and represented Italy at the 1984 Winter Olympics.
